A website for the Department of Instrumentation at Cochin University of Science and Technology, built for prospective B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D students. It organizes courses, faculty, outcomes, gallery and recruiters into clear sections, with a vision-led hero.

The Challenge
The Department of Instrumentation at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) needed a website that could introduce the department to prospective students and give current ones a dependable reference. The department has a long history. It began in 1978 as the University Science Instrumentation Centre, became a full academic department, and took its present form in 1995. It runs B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D programmes and has an active research record. The site had to present all of this clearly: the history, the courses, the faculty, the outcomes and the people to contact.
Our Approach
We organised the site around the questions a visitor is most likely to bring. A prospective student wants to know what the department teaches and where graduates go. A researcher wants to see the department's work. Anyone else needs to know how to get in touch.
The homepage opens with the department's vision statement and offers two routes straight away: browse the courses or contact the department. Further down, the page moves through the welcome and history, popular courses, vision and mission, teachers, programme specific outcomes, gallery, recruiting companies, important links and opening hours. Each topic gets its own section, so visitors can scan the page or jump to what they need.
What We Built
- A homepage hero carrying the department's vision and direct links to Our Courses and Contact Us
- A welcome and history section covering the department's path from the 1978 science instrumentation centre to a full teaching department
- A courses section highlighting programmes such as the eight-semester B.Tech in Instrumentation & Control Engineering
- A "Meet Our Teachers" section introducing the faculty
- Pages and sections for Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs), the vision and the mission
- A photo gallery, a Recruiting Companies section, an Important Links block and a display of opening hours

More about this project
Technology
The front end uses Bootstrap and Tailwind CSS. Together they give a consistent, responsive layout across the many content sections of a department site, and they keep styling manageable as pages are added. WordPress suits content that changes through the academic year, such as faculty details, course information and gallery images, because staff can update it without developer help. MySQL stores the content and Cloudflare sits in front of the site to help with delivery and protection. Magento is also part of the stack, which leaves room for structured catalogue-style content or future transactional features if the department needs them.
